1928
A wooden tender, still at work.
Navy hull, white house, gold lettering. She was built to move fish. She still does, in summer. In spring she is a quiet place to sleep, eat, and go ashore from.
Not a yacht. A boat with a hold, a foc’sle, and a house you can live in for a week.
Spring · Yakutat
The boat is the hotel.
From Crane you hike Malaspina Glacier and kayak Harlequin Lake. Yakutat Bay, beaches, a quiet week on the water. The boat is the hotel.
Crane stays in protected water. Surf is an option, not the trip. If the Gulf puts it on, Cannon Beach is a short hop by road from town, not a landing off the bow. Spring surf is weaker than fall. We do not sell barrels.
This is not a fishing lodge.
Situk steelhead run in that season. If you want a day on the river, we can put you with a local guide. Optional. Separate from the boat.
Summer
She tenders salmon around Juneau.
From about Father’s Day through early September, Crane is on the salmon. That is her work. Charters are spring only. We do not nibble into tendering.
